York Sunbury Search and Rescue was founded in 1983 and serves York,Sunbury,Queens and Norhthumberalnd counties in the central region of the province. The team is based in Frederciton, the capital city of New Brunswick. Members are experienced in night and wilderness searches. Some members receive first aid and CPR training. Members assist police agencies in evidence searches when required. Teaches preventive SAR using the "Hug-a-Tree" program and provides security at community events. Resources include a fully equipped command post with digital mapping, an equipment trailer, 23 portable radios, 2 base stations, 10 GPS, electric generators, and first aid kits; sixty volunteer members.
